What does being a fearless fighting female mean to me? As I look closely at that question, millions of scenarios and thoughts flow through my head.
As a teacher, I immediately deconstruct the words and look at them individually.

fearless (adj.) without fear, brave
fighting (v.) an attempt to gain power
female….hopefully we all know that definition

So in essence the true meaning is, a brave woman who wants to gain power. I currently work in a school which is in a low socio economic area. The girls are in fifth grade and generally come into my room not feeling like they will amount to much. My aim is to inspire them to have the courage to break free from the chains of limiting belief patterns that so many of their cultures have drawn around each of them. I try to instill a sense of confidence and positive self esteem into each and every girl that stands before me. As the year progresses I can see the girls transform into brave and confident young ladies who feel they can take on new challenges and reach for their dreams. Each one of these children is the living definition of a fearless fighting female in my eyes. They are girls who will take risks and stand up for what they believe even if it may be the unpopular route to take.
Then I look at myself as a wife and mother and think how important it is for me to be strong and brave even when it may seem difficult to do. I want to be able to teach my own children how to fight for what they believe and to stay true to themselves. Being a woman isn’t easy and being a fearless female is even harder. But, we must remember how important it is for us to stay strong and remember as long as we believe we can do something…….we can!!!
